How come everyone hates Ignus?

I was just wandering, how come noone lets Ignus in his party.
I mean I know he is a b!stard, but he is also the only useful mage in the game (Da'kon has 13 int or something, and is a multi-class).In most of the posts i've read ppl say something like "who wants a rabid lion fighting on his side", but he still hasn't done anything to deserve such respect. Any thoughts about this?

That's not true.

I took Ignus in my party a few times - even to the end. He's not so bad to have, you just have to watch what you are saying to him.

Above all, his unstable mental state is result mainly because of one of your blasted incarnations. Don't you feel a bit responsibility for that?

Read my posts some more - my flames are not aimed towards Ignus. There's another I take as mass murderer who does know what he is doing.

@Extremist - YOUR flames? I wasn't talking about you - there are always exeptions, I just had the feeling that generally ppl hate him.
BTW i have a question - do they get along with Vhailor? In bg2 good and evil chars didn't get along very well. Is it the same here?

If I understood correctly, you are asking about relations between Vhailor and other NPCs...

These are reactions on the bastard when you awake him:
...As Vhailor pronounces the word 'Mercykiller,' Morte freezes beside you.
...As Vhailor pronounces the word 'Mercykiller,' Annah stiffens and gives a soft, warning hiss.

If you ask Grace about him, she says:
"Any involvement with Mercykillers is an undertaking with many risks. I fear that with Vhailor, such risks are magnified. Justice is more than an obsession with him; justice is a *part* of him. Be careful how you act and carry yourself, for he is watching us all carefully. It is the nature of a Mercykiller."

However, I never experienced that Vhailor and one of party members started fighting each other. And why? Because I killed him every time I found him, right after I learned what I can from him.
No one is innocent he says. Then neither is he!

I like Ignus, but I sure can't understand why someone could hate Vhailor. Nothing wrong with saying Cernd is crap, or Ajantis is a stinking paladin but... Well, Vhailor is my fav npc from all the AD&D games
