I would think that any spellcasting class could solo HOF. It is easy to do it with a sorcerer. IIRC, my sorcerer used Chain Lightning and Summons to weaken Isair and then finished him off with a crossbow with +4 (+5?) bolts and a lot of running with the boots of speed.

I also beat HOF with a DG monk. I used the Clouldkiss(?) axe to defeat the twins (Isair) and Xvim's avatar. The twins take +5 damage from electricity (-5 resistance).

I'd try to do it with a high AC build. I'm pretty sure a Deep Gnome Monk (with a 13 INT) can get close to that magical 72 AC all by himself. Since they're proficient with axes, you can chuck them from a distance (assuming you can lift them).

Another option is the Deep Gnome Rogue(4)/Druid(4)/Bard(5)/Dreadmaster of Bane(5)/Illusionist(12) from Jukka's guide. That's just so darn unwieldy though.

IIRC, 72 AC is "magical" because no normal HOF monsters can hit it. But can I+M hit it?

Yes, their attack bonus will exceed 52
Technically, 71 is the 'magical' armour class, because rolling 20 is a critical hit, and hits anyway.

I droped my sorcerer, because it was so boooooring in normal mode. But I've started druid straight in HoF.. but got owned in fortress. I am 21 lvl atm. It's hard. It's pain in the ass. Monsters switch from summons and target my defenseless druid. Not cool. But I saved bridge! :p
