    For me, I've been short on money, and I saw no reason to buy Baldur's Gate a second time (I didn't have EE until Amazon's giveaway last summer, but I've had the original BG1 for 20 years) just to get Siege of Dragonspear. I haven't bought many games in the last decade that cost more than $5.
    That said, since Amazon gave away BG1 & 2 EE, I might consider getting it the next time it goes on sale for $5 at GoG or elsewhere.

    I would say it has its charm but compared to the rest it reall feels meh.

    Like I can't really put my finger on it but it doesn't really have the spark that the real BG games have honestly.

    I'm playing it through eet and honestly it feels a bit tedious.

    It does connect 1st and 2nd in a way that works.

    But on the whole, it still feels contrived. Yes, I've played through it, working on a walkthrough for it.

    I suspect another factor is that a lot of gamers may be put off by the Woke-shoehorning that can show up at a couple of points. (I believe SJW was the term in usage then, but the sentiment remains the same)
