Neverwinter Nights 2 Rumours

A topic has appeared on BioWare boards, discussing breaking news about supposed Neverwinter Nights 2 from a German magazine. They claim that NWN2 is goint to be presented at E3, which is far from being confirmed by BioWare. Here's a clip:

I agree. I've chatted with way too many BioWare staffers at length over these issues. While it's possible that they could have kept a secret like that for as long as they have and therefore publicly and privately lied consistently about these matters, I think that the chances of that are really about NIL.

As a successor to NWN, it is, however, entirely possible that three things will be dropped:

1- No DM client
2- No campaign design in which the multiplayer tail wags the SP dog;
3 - No editor premised upon a end-user friendly tile based system

This is entirely consistent with what BioWare has said over the past while. The last post-wrap on HotU had Darcy Pajak noting that a SP campaign was a decision they made in HotU and are quite comfortable with.

The DM client is the least used aspect of NWN. Whether people here happen to like that fact or not, it is surely true and we've known that for a long time on these forums. It's the reason the DM Client has got so little attention at patch time;

The same interview has Darcy Pajak suggesting a decision has been made at BioWare to move away from tile based environments. I criticized this decision rather heavily
in a thread here and suggested such a decision amounts to BioWare taking their community for granted Click Here (and Rob Bartel responded to those criticisms at great length (conclusion = I struck a bit of a nerve on that one, Rob Bartel does not post here very often lately).

NWN2 is not going to BE "NWN2" but something else based on BioWare's Original IP. They have announced this to us in a press release, they have said it on these forums over and over again and various staff members at Bioware have said it to me privately on well over a dozen occasions.

So I don't believe that German mag. Something is wrong there, but there is a grain of truth in it I suspect.
