| Synopsis:
The tragic loss of their unborn child has devastated Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard), taking a toll on both their marriage and Kate's fragile psyche as she is plagued by nightmares and haunted by demons from her past. Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, the couple decides to adopt another child. At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman)...but Esther is not what she appears to be and, concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Esther's sweet facade. But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too late...for everyone. |

Thriller Til The End! March 14, 2010 Carolyn Laws Faktor (AL) I loved Orphan but it wouldn't start playing. There was only sound with no picture. Shortly though, I was able to get it to play. The movie is suspenseful and a thriller for the ages. It kept me guessing til' the end. I recommend it to everyone.

The movie was good. Cute little girls doing funny things, and Vera Farmiga I think is very sexy. I didn't like the ending but I will still give it five stars because it's my favorite movie I've seen recently. Aryana Engineer is adorable. I am not sure if she is actually deaf or not (I hope not) but all of her lines are in sign language. My favorite was "What's an F-bomb?". Maybe I am sick but I thought it was funny watching her help kill someone. Isabelle Fuhrman was likeable to me too. This movie was better than the good son. To me, the "suprise" at the end kind of took away from the movie.
Most ridiculous movie I have ever seen!!! March 13, 2010 S. Leos (LA, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie is so stupid! How can anyone give this more than one star. Like the Husband in the movie is really going to fall for this kid/woman's stupid games. Oh God, I am so glad I did not see this in the theatre. Soooooo Lame!

I first seen Orphan in theaters and thought it was great, and watching it on Blu-ray is just as great. The story is different than most scary films and the acting is terrific. The video quality and audio quality seemed great to me, though in a few scenes it got a little grainy. The Blu-ray Disc comes with some deleted scenes and an alternate ending which is creepier than the original ending. It also comes with a featurette called, "Mama's Little Devils" in HD, which takes a look at how Orphan was made and also other movies that feature children as killers. The featurette is good, but I was expecting more out of it. It also comes with a digital copy for a limited time only and the code can also be used for WB Insider Rewards. It was a great movie, but I would have liked more special features.
