So, just a week ago I finished vanilla Baldur's Gate I and Tales of the Sword Coast for a second time with an elven Fighter/Mage and I exported this character into Baldur's Gate II.

In the near future I plan to replay SoA and ToB using two different parties.

The first run would contain the following:

    My half-orc Fighter/Thief :Strength 19, Dexterity 18, Constitution 19, Intelligence 13, Wisdom 4, Charisma 11

The rest of the party: Keldorn, Korgan, Anomen, Jaheira, Edwin

    The second party would be

    My imported elven Fighter/Mage: Strength 19, Dexterity 20, Constitution 18, Intelligence 19, Wisdom 6, Charisma 11

The rest of the party: Keldorn, either Korgan or Minsc, Anomen, Jaheira, Imoen

My questions are the following: Is my half-orc gonna be able to use mage and priest scrolls with those stats? I know there's a minimum but I forgot what it is.

The other thing is I would like people's opinions on these parties. Should I really substitute Korgan for Minsc in the second one? I like Korgan because he can use the Axe of the Unyielding/Crom Faeyr combo with ease and I love that.

Thanks in advance for answering and any suggestion is welcome.

You'll definitely be able to use mage scrolls with a 13 in intelligence (once you select the HLA "Use Any Item" of course). With cleric scrolls I'm unsure. However, there are relatively few cleric scrolls out there that you'll want/need, especially as compared to mage scrolls.

As far as Korgan vs. Minsc, that's really a role-playing decision more than anything. Korgan leaves the party if your reputation ever exceeds 18, so if you don't want to worry about that, Minsc would be the obvious choice. With Minsc, you'll also be able to use the Axe of Unyielding and Crom Faeyr, as by the time you come across those items, he'll have gained enough weapon proficiencies to use them both. Granted, Korgan will be somewhat better, owing to grand mastery in axes, but it's not like Minsc would be bad. Keep in mind also that as a ranger, Minsc starts with two proficiency points in two weapon style, so the only thing you really need is the two points in axes and hammers, along with one more in two weapon style if you so desire. Plus Minsc also comes ready with two handed swords, and you can pick up Lilacor early on, and use that while waiting to get your hands on other weapon options.

But it's not like you need to have either of them to use Crom - with a few points into two weapon style, Anomen can dual wield FoA and CF. IMO, that's what I'd do, and if I wanted to add an evil fighter, I'd pick of Sarevok in ToB.
