I got the message Charisma Modification on one of my characters, and loading a previous save reveals that my charisma has been lowered by 3, but it's not in red, and no debuff icon is shown on my characters portrait. It might have been a trap, but I don't know for sure wether I got a trap sprung or not, there was a lot going on. This happened in the southern parts of the crypts below the graveyard district, almost at the spot where korgan's book should've been. Can I reverse this in any way except loading or SKing?

It happened again now, when Tanova hit me. She's the strongest mage vampire in bodhi's lair in chapter 3. I'll try some remove curse and temple healing when I get out of here.

2nd edit: turns out the rod of terror was the perp. My question regarding reversing the effects still stands though.

There is no in game way of reversing the effects that does not involve a cheat. You may as well just SK it or let it be as a lesson learned.

All stats loop when they get below 0, so if you continue to use the rod and drain your CHA enough it will go back up to 25. To do this without dying (through having a stat less than 1) equip the ring of human influence. As dmc notes, this would be a cheat, although by carefully monitoring it you could get your charisma to where it was without a 3rd party application such as Shadowkeeper.

On the flip side, unless you are wearing a magical item to artificially raise your charisma, you'll simply die when your charisma hits zero. If you are going to use the wrap-around trick, make sure you are wearing the ring that sets your charisma to 18 while you are doing it.

In my game Edwin wielded the Rod of Terror and at one point hit zero Charisma. But he'd only die if I took off the rod. Meaning he was stuck with it indefinitely. ;)
