I've read through the maual , and tot he best of my knowledge I can't recall seeing a section relating to how much my damage my char takes per combat.

I understand the rolls associated w/ my char. being able to hit and how much damage they do. I understand the rolls associated w/ whether or noy MY chars. are hit. I just can't find anything pertaining to how much damage they take. Does their armor not factor into this at all???

No. Once you are hit, the amount of damage you take depends on the weapon used against you, and whether you have any damage resistance from items, spells or class inherent abilities.

Armor and shield only prevents beeing hit. Not amount of damage taken.

Unless you download Weimer's Ease of Use Mod and select the armour option as this changes armour so that it provides damage reduction instead of armour class. Some people believe that this makes more sense, i.e. that plate armour doesn't make you any harder to hit, but it does reduce the damage you take. This all depends on your point of view, really, because you could argue that plate mail reduces the chance of a 'damaging' hit being made (e.g. one that pierces your skin).

Anyway, in the normal game, the damage YOU take is calculated in exactly the same way as the damage you CAUSE, just from done from the enemies point of view, not yours. So, it is based on enemy's strength, modifiers etc and your armour class etc.
