Do I need to start over after patching?

    I was warned to patch my game by the person who gave it to me, but he apparently gave me an out of date patch file. My game just glitched, and I found that the issue is addressed in the 1.3 & 4 patch files here on this site. Will I have to start over at the beginning after applying the patch, or just at the last save game before it glitches?

    I believe the official recommendation was to start over after applying all the patches. It is likely that bugs in areas that you have already visited will not be fixed otherwise. I'd still try from a saved game first though.
