so, I got this game not long ago (physical copy) installed the version 1.4 patch and the 3E exp mod, but there were some visual bugs (namely, boxes were chopped out of various things such as characters and shadows) and after using the fix for invisible characters nothing had happened so, I came here to ask for help!

"nvidia quadro FX 1800 graphics card"

That video card isn't a gaming graphics card and could very well be a compatibility issue.

I'd recommend you also try Windows 98 compatibility mode since the game was intended to run under it.
