[IMG] Can someone help me with the specifics on Adamantine weapons? 3.5 rules, if you don't mind.

I'm planning to create a Large Adamantine Goliath Greathammer, for my Goliath warrior quarry-worker who is particularly fond of smashing stuff, sundering weapons, breaking walls and doors, making money in a quarry, playing golf with constructs or Whac-a-mole with Earth Elementals, but also stuff like Hammer Throwing, Caber-tossing and other Highland Games. He's a very athletic and competitive Goliath, of course. :p
    Enough Bulls.

So I read somewhere that adamantine weapons overcome hardness of 20 and lower, and is considered to be masterwork weapons. That seems promising, but there's a lot that I do not know about adamantine.

-Does it weigh more that normal weapons? (That would be fun. A large Goliath Greathammer would already be 60 pounds :D "I.. erm... have to confiscate your weapons before you enter the temple... and see a chiropractor later")
-Do the costs of adamantine weapons improve with size/weight?
-What are the actual costs of this hammer
-Does it disintegrate when in sunlight (or is that some other adamant-something material)?
-any other specifics I need to know?
-What would be a nice name for this weapon? :D I was thinking of names like Stonereaper, Comet, Brick-on-a-Stick or Shell-Shock, but I'd love to see what you people come up with.

Adamantine weapons in 3.5 do not disintegrate in sunlight -- other versions had it as the domain of the drow, but I saw no evidence of such in the DMG. Anyone can use it in or out of the Underdark.

Adamantine weapons do not weigh more than the standard weapon according to the DMG.

Also from DMG, A weapon made from adamantine costs an additional 3000 GP. This also makes it masterwork automatically. I am not sure about the added cost of the size differential -- I'll check my PHB and get back to you.

names should be things with words like "crush", "smash", "break", "shatter", "Pulverize", "whack" or other such words. It's not original by any means, but I like "Skullcrusher".

Adamantine weapons do ignore hardness less than 20 when sundering weapons or attacking objects, and they negate some damage reduction effects. E.g. an Iron Golem has DR 15/adamantine and Stone Skin has DR 10/adamintine.

Also, adamantine armor provides damage reduction if you were to make armor.

    Thanks guys 'n peops! :)

    8people, I take it these are 3.5 D&D rules?

I have no idea whether a Greathammer is a steel weapon or not. Only steel weapons can be made of adamantine. Since a lot of hammers are made (partially) of steel, I guess it's no problem to add some adamantine to a Greathammer. What do you think?

It turns out that a Large Adamantine Goliath Greathammer costs 3060 gp. 30 base price, doubled for large weapons and 3000 added for the adamantine.
An increase in adamantine-costs (for large weapons) wouldn't seem fair, so I left that out: You pay for the abilities, I reckon, and these abilities do not improve with size (that's what he said).
Still, it's weird because you need twice as much of a very rare and costly material. :p

It's now considered a masterwork weapon for market value, too, right? Adding 3000 gp to the base prise iso 300. So if I want to upgrade it to, lets say a +1 weapon, I add 2000 gold? And not 6000 because it has already a market value of a +1 weapon, or so?
