Use the search engine for a thread EXACTLY like this that I made for more information, its called something like "are monks useless or is it just me?"

Yes, at lower levels a halfling fighter with a strength of 8 and a dagger could beat him.

But once you get to 10-11 they really start to rock.

'stunning blow' kick ass at any level.
A monk might not be a front line tank immeditately, but give him a dart or sling and he'll pay his own way through the first dungeons.

Thank goodness Septic gave gentle direction on this topic. I know feel compelled to behave in line with his example.

Yes Monks or ANY character can find it difficult to survive at a low level. Fighters are Fighters, Mages are Mages, Thieves are Thieves and Monks are Monks. They aren't interchangable. However as the expression goes 'good things come to those who wait' -nothing could be more true when it comes to playing a Monk character.
