Alright, one of the main things I've grown to dislike in BGII is all the magical safe-breaking. Personally, with a Sorcerer's limited magical potential, I'd -much- rather devote my precious spellslots to Blowing Things Up. Now, I was wondering, if I were to recruit Jan, or Edwin, or maybe even Nalia, god forbid, would they be able to memorize all of the Anti-Protections I would need, leaving my Sorcerer open to Blow Things Up?

I've tried this once before. I made a sorcerer and he mostly had offensive spells. So I took Jan so he could support him with some offensive spells and have most of the defensive ones too. Plus he was my theif so I didn't have to take another person like Nalia ( she is a thief but she can't even get through her own home with the pathetic skills she has.) Later I replaced Jan with Imoen.

Works fine, I also like to play an agressive mage. If you memorise one of each protection braking spell and leave the rest to summoning and attack you should be more than able to win most battles.

Magic missle also works very well for getting rid of magical protections (at caster level 9 it's 5 level one spell hits).

  6. Yeah, magic missiles are great for foiling enemy mage's spell. The extremely fast casting time makes it a life-saver if you know how to utilise it.

Put the boots of speed on your archer and he'll fire even faster and will be able to out run just about anything.
