Ares

Skara Brae

Apport Tarmitia

I return to the Old Man. He's outraged that Sceadu also turned traitor. However, he's optimistic as he's sowing the seed while Tarjan burns the chaff and that the "circle is almost joined."

He takes Sceadu's Cloak and the Helm of Justice, while also rewarding the party with 600,000xp. Talia learns the Apport Tarmitia and Reditus Tarmitia spells.

Wilderness

Vale of Lost Warriors

Everybody besides Zarathos advances two more levels. He advances six more levels.

I go to the Vale of Lost Warriors, which is straight south from Skara Brae. Talia casts the Apport Tarmitia spell.

Berlin

I Am Known As Ares

I start off at 0N 0E on the map of Berlin. That's right, the party arrives in Berlin as it is being besieged by the Red Army towards the end of World War 2. I win fights against random soldiers at 0N 1E and 2N 1E.

Tarmitia is in fact an eternal battlefield, where each part of it involves a historical war from a recognized time period and location. I may as well explain at the outset that progressing through Tarmitia means learning the different names the God of War has had through different ages and different parts of the world. But a particular name provides a correct answer only in the part of the world that would have recognized the God of War by that name. It becomes apparent that you have to learn all the names, and use each one in the appropriate part of Tarmitia. However ...

*** SPOILER *** If you want to save yourself the considerable amount of trekking and fighting to learn all the names, there is a shortcut available. Go to the death's head at 4N 7E and give "Tyr" as an answer to the death's head there. Then give "Werra" as a second answer to that death's head, and you'll be able to cut through to the end part of Tarmitia. I prefer to rack up the xp doing things the hard way though.

The first available answer given is at 1N 5E, where a whisper says: "I am known as ARES". Of course that's a reference to Ares the Olympian God of War. It also follows that "Ares" as an answer won't work here in Berlin, but will provide a correct answer in a battlefield from the Hellenistic age.

I win fights against random soldiers in a sequence of 1N 7E, 2N 9E, 4N 11E, 4N 1E, 4N 4E, 4N 6E, 6N 4E, 7N 4E, 8N 2E, 7N 1E, 6N 0E, 7N 10E, 9N 10E, 9N 6E, 8N 6E and 10N 2E.

Also, whenever you learn a name, the part of Tarmitia you can use it in will not be immediately accessible from the part you're currently in. You'll have to make your way across at least one additional battlefield before you can get to the battlefield where the name will work.

At 10N 1E is a gateway to Rome, which I use.

Rome

Rome to Troy

I start off at 8N 9E. I win fights against random soldiers and priests in a sequence of 8N 10E, 9N 9E, 10N 7E, looping around to 1N 6E, looping back around to 11N 6E, 9N 6E, 7N 8E, 6N 10E, 3N 9E, 2N 10E, 1N 9E, 2N 8E and 2N 6E.

I avoid squares that drain Spell Points, so I leave the smoke-filled room in the southeast the way that I came, and enter the cross-shaped room in the middle. I win fights against random monsters in a sequence of 6N 7E, 5N 6E, 3N 5E, 7N 6E, 6N 5E, 6N 3E, 9N 1E, 6N 1E, 4N 1E, 2N 1E, 1N 3E and 1N 2E.

And again I prefer to avoid Spell Point draining squares, so I loop around to wind up in the northeast corner. From there I make my way to the room that overlaps both the southern and northern edges of Rome. I win fights against random soldiers and priests at 11N 4E and 0N 4E. I use the portal to Troy at 0N 3E.

Troy

Who Am I? Ares

I start off at 5N 7E of the map of Troy. The soldiers and monsters are not as numerous here, but they are individually more powerful. A particular danger are Basilisks and Gorgons that can Petrify characters with their melee attacks.

I win fights against random monsters in a sequence of 7N 6E, 4N 8E, 3N 10E, 5N 9E, 9N 7E, 7N 8E, 8N 10E, 9N 6E, 11N 7E, 10N 9E and 11N 9E.

I loop around to the south side and then win fights against random monsters at 1N 8E, 0N 10E, 0N 7E, 2N 6E, 3N 6E, 3N 1E, 1N 1E, 0N 1E and 0N 4E.

I loop back around to the north side and win fights against random monsters at 11N 2E, 8N 1E, 10N 4E, 8N 3E, 6N 3E, 6N 5E, 5N 3E and 4N 4E.

A death's head at 4N 2E asks me for the name of the God of War. The correct name in Troy is: "Ares". I get teleported away, and my next objective is to discover Werra's identity as Yen-Lo-Wang.
