ARIEL, F HALF-ELF BARD

Ariel

A Bard is a mainstay of any party. She can bring together enough items with AC boosts so as to safely place herself on the front-lines alongside the Paladin and the Warrior.

She can use one of her songs as a pre-buff that usually (depending on the specifics of the song) carry over into combats, allowing her to add additional songs during the combat rounds themselves to add multiple buffs. My preference during the first half of the third game is the Traveller's Tune, which adds a maximum 15 point improvement to AC for the whole party that will be in place at the start of combat. As for combat itself, I typically use Lucklaran when I'm faced with enemy spellcasters or monsters that use breath weapons. Other frequent songs are Seeker's Ballad if I think my party members need a bonus for To Hit, and Spell Song to prime up enemies within 40' for increased damage by offensive spells and breath weapons. I also use Baldhr Khilnfest if I judge I can adequately heal Hit Points for my party members over the long haul without having to spend Spell Points. The last song can heal as many as 50 Hit Points per round with even higher Bard levels. It is also advisable to have an item that allows the Bard to use her songs without limit.

At about halfway through the third game, I start to accumulate enough items so that my front-line characters start to approach the maximum -50 AC even without the help of Traveller's Tune. I also at about the same time start to find Familiar Figurines that will allow my spellcasters to passively recoup their Spell Points, even without having to use recharging crystals or being outdoors during the daytime. It is at that point that I stop using Traveller's Tune as the default song, and go with Rhyme of Duotime instead, which doubles the Spell Point regeneration provided by the Familiar Figurines.
