Glowstone Caverns

Earned in Blood

I start off at #1 on the map. I go ahead a bit, and then disarm a trap. I then run into a Goblin named Ulip, whom I have to convince that I may not be hostile. He then lets me go to speak to the leader of the tribe, Ghlek, at #3. The good party falls in with Ghlek's request to kill off nearby spiders in exchange for a ring that provides a clue as to the real murderers.

The Glow Spiders happen to be at #5. They'll also be surrounded by traps. I show an effective way of dealing with that. Valeria tells everyone to 'stand your ground' and then casts Greater Invisibility on herself. She then begins a process of removing any traps near the spiders, casting a 2nd and even a 3rd Greater Invisibility on herself before the previous one runs out, and then making her way back to the party once she's managed to remove all the traps.

I now do some pre-buffing, Stoneskins for everyone, Improved Mage Armor for the Familiar, Weapon of Impact for Casavir, Keen Weapon and Greater Magic Weapon for Valeria.

Once everything is in place, I march on straight ahead with little worry. The Giant Spiders are capable of Web effects, but aren't too difficult to kill otherwise. Grobnar hits as many as he can with his Curse Song. Sand kills two outright one at a time with his Disintegrate spells.

Once I report the good news, I get the Signet Ring from Ghlek as well as 750xp. The ring apparently puts members of an assassins guild from Luskan called the Circle of Blades at the crime scene in Ember. Sand now declares that the party has enough evidence to go to trial.

*Evil* Glowstone Caverns

Zarathos at first plays along with Ulip and Glek for the time being. Once he makes his way to the Glowstone Pool, that's when he announces his intention to Drom to take the Glowstone by force. It is that particular dialogue choice that commits Zarathos to obtaining the Glowstone for Lyssa, and precludes obtaining the Vial of Glowstone Water and re-activating the Construct. The dialogue choice also means a -3 influence loss with both Casavir and Elanee.

That also commits me to slaughtering the entire Goblin tribe. They're not much trouble since individually none of the Goblins have much in the way of hit points, although the odd spell or two does help.

Ghlek leaves behind:

Ulip leaves behind the Gladiator's Club (Club +1, 75% Daze DC/14 for 1 round), which I'll just sell.

I continue on and slaughter the Spiders as well.

I conclude the video by giving the Glowstone to Lyssa for 1,000xp and the Alteration Powder. Note that I could kill Lyssa for the Alteration Powder, and keep the Glowstone, which allows its user to use Searing Light (5) three times a day. The power of the Glowstone isn't that big a deal, so I just trade up for the 1,000xp and the Powder.

Although I didn't show it completely in the video, I returned to the Docks, switched out Casavir for Elanee, and came back to the Caverns. There's a specific reason why which I'll describe shortly.

Now I make my way to #4 on the Glowstone Caverns map. The Goblins object to my taking, or even coming near, the Glowstone. I leave it be. I approach the pool of water on the other side of the cave from the Glowstone. Doing so prompts Grobnar to create a Vial of Glowstone Water in Valeria's inventory. This item will be needed for re-activating the Construct that I found earlier in the Githyanki Base.

*Note* dmc also points out that if Qara is in the party, you can gain influence with her by talking tough with the Goblins but without necessarily having to follow through with hostilities. I personally didn't find it necessary, since all that is needed to keep Qara instead of Sand is to have higher influence with Qara in comparison to Sand.

An Overly Clever Arachnid

Valeria then heads over to the cave at #6, where she meets an enormous spider who apparently wants something but nobody in the party can figure out what. That is, unless the protagonist happened to be a Drow or if Elanee is in the party. What Kistrel wants is the Insect Collection that was carried by Jilla in the Werewolf Cave, located at #4 on the Duskwood Grove map. I give the Collection to the Spider and get 750xp. I also deliberately choose the dialogue option that will increase influence with Elanee.

*Evil* Zarathos also completes this quest, but he uses the dialogue option that involves how he'll use Kistrel for his own purposes instead of nature's so as to lose another -1 influence with Elanee.

I then head over to #7 on the Caverns map, which is an exit to the Duskwood Grove map. On the way there will be a deposit that can clicked on for future ingots and 50xp, as well as the Glorious Revolution (Heavy Crossbow +2, +5 vs. evil, spell resistance 10) that I'll just sell. The exit brings me to #2 on the Duskwood Grove map.
