Denerim - The Pearl

Denerim - The Pearl

  1. Here is the entrance to the Pearl. From here, you can access the Map of Denerim.

  2. Here is Sanga, the proprietor of the Pearl.

  3. Here are the White Falcon Mercenaries, the subject of Sergeant Kylon's quest that involves cleaning out the Pearl. You can make either a successful Persuade or Intimidate check to convince them to leave. Or you can fight them into submission. If you accept the surrender, this will prove satisfactory to the Guard. If you decide to kill them, it will bring about a conclusion to the quest, but not a very satisfactory one in the eyes of the Guard.

It won't be over just yet. Once you leave the Pearl, Sergeant Kylon and a few of his men will come to greet you. If you resolved matters in a way that didn't involve killing the White Falcon Mercnenaries, their leader, Christof, will now accost you along with a large force of White Falcon Mercenaries. This will include a lot of fighters who can quickly swarm your force, and a number of archers who will fire from a distance. Ideally, try to plant a storm spell over the archers that will take them out quickly. The fighters will swarm inevitably, so try to use party-friendly abilities that will keep them ineffective, like Captivating Song, Sleep, Glyph of Warding, or Waking Nightmare. Christof himself will leave behind Aodh (Silverite).

If however, you killed the White Falcon mercenaries who were causing trouble in the Pearl, Sergeant Kylon will express disapproval and orders his men to clean up the mess.

  4. IsabellaHere is Isabella, whom you will witness sending a trio of fighters packing. The subject of her battle skills will come up in a conversation with her, and she hints that she may be willing to teach you the basics of what she knows. To convince her to teach you, you have two options.

One option you must beat her at a game called Wicked Grace. To win, you'll have to make a successful Dexterity check. If your Dexterity isn't good, either Leliana or Zevran will help you if your approval rating with either is high enough. Basically you would have to lose a few times, and then your party rogues starts to intervene by sneaking cards to you. The end result is that the Duelist specialization for Rogues gets unlocked.

The other option is to exploit Isabella's apparently voracious sexual appetites. If you can persuade Isabella to go to bed with you, and she's open to either gender, than she is willing to teach you the Duelist specialization. Given the right party and circumstances, this can even lead to a threesome or foursome. Zevran will be the most eager participant and will need little to no persuasion to join in. Either Alistair or Leliana can be persuaded to join in, IF their personalities have been hardened through previous dialogues with your Grey Warden chracter.

  5. This room has a bouncer and a chest in it, but is apparently impossible to get into.

  6. Here is a locked chest with a Love Letter and a random item in it.

  7. Paeda's BandTo get past this door, you'll need to read the Grey Warden poster in the Market District at #20 so to know the appropriate phrase to say, "The Griffons will ride again." Inside, you'll find Paedan, Shaevra, and two Qunari Mercenaries. No matter what you have to say them, a fight is inevitable. Once you defeat them, you can loot Paeda's Orders off his body.
