The Fade

The Fade

  1. Here is the initial entry point after the ritual.

  2. Here is where you'll find the spirit of Arl Eamon while apparently dreaming during his comatose condition. He'll plead with you to find Connor.

  3. This portal leads to the portal at #4.

  4. When you first arrive at this portal, it will be de-activated.

  5. Connor PossessedHere is Connor Guerrin. Actually, with enough pressing, its the Desire Demon pretending to be Connor through illusion. Once the conversation goes far enough, the Desire Demon will attack you. Bring her health down to size and she'll flee. The portal at #4 will now be activated so that it leads to the portal at #6.

  6. When you first arrive at this portal, it will be de-activated.

  7. Here again you'll find the Desire Demon posing as Connor. With enough pressing, she'll attack you with the aid of a Lesser Rage Demon. If you win, she'll flee again. The portal at #6 will be activated so that it leads to the portal at #8.

  8. When your first arrive at this portal, it will be de-activated.

  9. Here again you'll find the Desire Demon posing as Connor. With enough pressing, she'll attack you with the aid of two Lesser Rage Demons. If you win, she'll flee again. The portal at #8 will be activated so that it leads to the portal at #10.

  10. Here is where you'll find the Desire Demon in her true form. If your Grey Warden character is a mage, you have a choice between fighting it or negotiating with it. Note that if it was Morrigan or Wynne sent into the Fade, they'll both refuse to bargain with the Demon and combat will ensue.

Teach Me Blood MagicIf you do decide to barter a deal with the Desire Demon, there's a few options available to you. If your Intimidation is good enough, you can convince her to leave altogether without a fight. However, if you want a benefit for yourself, there's three options that she offers. One is pleasure. Choosing this leads to a cutscene that implies copulating. Another is knowledge. This means that she'll give you a Tome of Ethereal Suggestion which you can use to learn an additional spell or talent. Your third option is power. This means that the Desire Demon can unlock the Blood Mage specialization for you.

If you do enter combat with the Desire Demon, keep in mind that she's capable of both spellcasting and melee combat. Also, you have to cut her down to size three times to bring her to final defeat. The first two times, she'll erect six illusions of herself in order to buy herself time to replenish her health. If you strike a false one, it will disappear. If you strike the true one, she'll be forced to fight you again. After the third defeat, she'll lose control of Connor and he'll be free. However you handle this situation, you will find yourself back at the Upper Floor of Redcliffe Castle with Leliana.

  11. Here is an exit that will lead to the main floor of Redcliffe Castle.

If you left the villagers to die without helping them, make your way to the Village Chantry to find Bann Teagan. He will lead you here, and then after conversing with Isolde, will then give you the Signet Ring in order to access the secret route to the castle.
