Conyberry

Sword Coast Overland Map

Strange Gnomes

I collect my trade bar income from Variel. It's about 6,600 trade bars. I convert 5,500 of those trade bars into 88,000gp. I need about 500 trade bars to set a trading post at Conyberry. I'll also need plenty of gold to construct caravans between Conyberry and other towns.

I make my way towards Phandalin. On the way there I find a pair of Strange Gnomes, Enleva and Noduab. I just kill them. There's no in game consequence for it.

I arrive at Phandalin. I already have 2 Skins. I trade for 8 more (valued at 1 trade bar each). The reason being that the other requirement for a trading post at Conyberry is 10 Skins.

Conyberry Trading Post

I make my way to the town of Conyberry, which is at #20 on the overland map. I have to fight plenty of monsters along the way.

Once there, I pay the 500 trade bars and 10 Skins to set up the trading post. I also pay out the gold to maximize caravans to both Thundertree and Phandalin.

Parrum's Rock

I enter the common room of the tavern in Conyberry. I then speak with Jesentus Parr. He wishes me to clear the mine of undead and find the deed to the mine for him.

Parrum's Rock is at #21. I need to go by #18 in order to reach the location.

Parrum's Rock

I start off at #1 on the Parrum's Rock map, and buff up. There are plenty of Ghouls and Drowned Dead throughout the mine.

At #2 will be a container with some random items, and an armoire that has a Darksteel Chainshirt.

At the room at #3 will be containers that hold Boots of Striding +2 and a Studded Leather +2.

At at the room at #4 is a book that provides the deed to the mine. The book also indicates that Jesentus Parr caused the flood by coercing the foreman into performing a dangerous excavation, and that the foreman's son has since had to work in servitude in the Conyberry tavern.

At #5 is an Arcane Nexus that I can't do much about until later.

At #6 I have to kill several wraith-like creatures such as Echoes of Regret and Echoes of Remorse, as well as a very large Wraith called a Smothered Conscience. Physical combat suffices.

I return to the Conyberry tavern and give the deed to the Tavern Boy, the foreman's son. 1,400xp is my reward.

Ruined Keep

I travel to the Ruined Keep at #22. There will be several Gargoyles that are inert for now, so I take the time to buff up.

At the other end of the Keep will be a bookcase that provides recipes for:

I take the recipes and then bash the bookcase down to reveal a trapped and locked chest. It contains: It is when I loot the chest that the Gargoyles are roused into attacking. I wear them down with physical attacks helped along by Beshadowed Blast / Eldritch Chains.

Armor Class +3

I again return to Crossroad Keep. Jacoby now has new goods available for sale from Conyberry. A lot of it is weapons of +1 or +2 enhancement. Unique items include:

I also decide to buy some recipes, Adamantine Heavy Shield and Adamantine Full Plate. A new recipe is also available from Conyberry, Cloaks of Charisma +4. I buy that one too.

I enter the Merchant Headquarters and collect my trade bar income and turn about 4,000 of my trade bars into gold.

I then go near the workbenches and upgrade the armors for Janette, Logan, Umoja and Vandala to +3 (Gallard already has a +3 armor).

Finch Catches Up

I head into the Adventurer's Guild. Finch pays up the gold to have his xp catch up to the rest of the party.

Finch then levels up. He finishes off the rest of the skill prerequisites (i.e. Move Silently 8, Hide 10) for the Shadowdancer prestige class during, during his first couple of level ups.

On the 14th level-up, he switches out his Cloud of Bewilderment spell for the Eagle's Splendour spell. This will allow the creation of Cloaks of Charisma.

He picks up the Mobility feat on his 15th level up, which is the last prerequisite of the Shadowdancer prestige class. It is also during this level up that he picks up one level of Warlock, in order to gain the Dark One's Own Luck invocation, which will allow him to raise his saving throws for 24 hours in proportion to his Charisma bonus modifier.

He then picks up one level of Shadowdancer on the 16th level up, to give himself the Hide in Plain Sight ability. It is also during this level up that he gives himself 2 ranks in Spot and 2 ranks in Survival so as to qualify for certain teamwork quests.

The video ends with him taking another Bard level.

Cloaks of Charisma +4 and Cloaks of Resistance +5

I want at least about 80,000+gp for next objectives. So I wait it out until the caravan wagons make some trips back and forth between Crossroad Keep and other towns.

Once I feel I'm more or less there, I collect about 3,200+ trade bars from Variel. I cash them all out.

Nearby, in a small room just behind Variel, is the portal back to the Lantassan Lumber Camp. I pay Orias Glowgears 2,000gp to go through the portal.

Once on the other side, I sell any creature parts that I don't need for crafting (e.g. NOT Bear Pelts, Blade Spider Cogs, Worg Furs, Will-O-Wisp Glamers, etc.) to Nil for even more gold.

I then make my way back to Samargol. I enter the Shrine of Waukeen. I buy five Travelling Cloaks from the priest there.

After that, I go over to the Crafting Stations. A Cloak of Charisma +4 requires 2 Will-O-Wisp Glamers, a Travelling Cloak, an Eagle's Splendour spell, and 8,000gp. Vandala already has a Nymph Cloak +6. I make Cloaks of Charisma +4 for Janette and Finch.

A Cloak of Resistance +5 requires 3 Worg Furs, a Travelling Cloak, a Resistance cantrip, and 12,500gp. I make three of them, one each for Gallard, Logan and Umoja.

Finally, an Amulet of Health +6 requires a Gold Necklace, an Emerald, a Bear's Endurance spell, and 18,000gp. I make one for Finch. Finch will spend most of his time in stealth mode, so I'm not as concerned for Boots of Hardiness for him as I would be for Janette or Gallard. And with Finch, I'd rather he wear Boots of Elvenkind for the Move Silently bonus. I therefore prefer an Amulet of Health +6 and Boots of Elvenkind for Finch.

Greycloak Weapon Upgrade

I return to Crossroad Keep by way of the portal in the Lumber Camp. I now wait around some more for more caravans to arrive at Crossroad Keep. I need at least 1,000+ trade bars for my next objective.

Once I have gotten enough, I pay Variel 500 trade bars to finance my next upgrade.

Next, I travel to Phandalin. I trade away the odd Skin that I found along the way since I don't need any anymore. I purchase 5 Cold Iron from Phandalin, valued at 40 trade bars each.

After that I travel to Thundertree and purchase 5 Zalantar, valued at 70 trade bars each.

Then I return to Crossroad Keep and instruct Variel to upgrade the weapons of the Greycloak guards, which required the 500 trade bars, 5 Cold Iron, and 5 Zalantar. I suppose I can and should have done it sooner. But since I just arrived at the Keep ...

My next destination is the town of New Leaf.
