Leilon

Sword Coast Overland Map

Leilon Trading Post

I return to Crossroad Keep, and collect my trade bar income from Variel. I'm noticing that Gallard's Parry checks and attack bonus are good enough for him to be making his riposte attacks a lot of the time. So I add cold damage to his off-hand dagger, and increase the acid damage on his main hand dagger.

I stop off at Highcliff, and trade so that I have 5 Skins, which is a requirement for the next trading post I will be building.

Now I travel to the town of Leilon, which is at #9 on the Overland Map. I pay the 300 trade bars and 5 Skins required to construct the trading post. I also pay out the gold to maximize caravans between Leilon and Highcliff and Crossroad Keep.

Swamp Cave

At #2 is the Swamp Cave. I don't have a chance to buff up, but then the Ogre, Annis Hag, and two Green Hags are easily cut down anyway.

A trapped chest has random treasures, plus recipes for Cloak of Charisma +6, Amulet of Natural Armor +3, and Ring of Major Acid Resistance.

A chest at the south end of the mine has recipes for several deadly traps.

Adamantine Armor

I stop off at Leilon on the way back to Crossroad Keep. I trade 900 trade bars total for 3 units of Adamantine.

I speak to Jacoby again, who has new goods arrived from Leilon. Most of it is generic +2 armors or weapons. Unique items include:

I have no need for any of those items.

Jacoby now has a lot of recipes for Adamantine armors and weapons. I had previously bought recipes for Adamantine Full Plate and Adamantine Heavy Shield.

A new recipe that has arrived from Leilon is for Belt of Strength +4. I buy that one.

I enter the Merchant Headquarters, and collect my income from Variel. I go to the Blacksmith's Bench and craft an Adamantine Full Plate and an Adamantine Heavy Shield. I also add +3 enhancement bonuses to both items. Logan gets the Full Plate, while Janette gets the Heavy Shield. Items that provide damage reduction are very useful in Storm of Zehir where there are often a long series of battles where previous magical buffs will have worn off. The damage reduction provided by Adamantine armors will never wear off, and will always be there.

Cloaks of Charisma +6

Now that I obtained the recipe for Cloak of Charisma +6 from the Swamp Cave, I purchase two Travelling Cloaks from Jacoby.

I return to the Magician's Workbench in the Merchant Headquarters. A Travelling Cloak, plus six Will-O-Wisp Glamers, plus 16,000gp is what is needed to create a Cloak of Charisma +6.

I create one for Janette, and one for Finch, who now have their cloaks for the rest of the game. Vandala already has her Nymph Cloak +6.

Belts of Strength +4

Now I travel to Highcliff and trade for two Mithral. I return to the Merchant Headquarters thereafter.

Crafting a Belt of Strength +4 requires a Bear Pelt, a Mithral, and 8,000gp. I make one for Janette, and one for Umoja. Logan already has a Belt of Frost Giant Strength.

Foe Hunting

I enter the Adventurer's Guild and have Umoja speak to Candril. The teamwork quest I pay 1,000gp to get is Foe Hunting. The Leader requirements are an attack bonus against a Favored Enemy, and a base attack bonus of +6, which Umoja has in part to his Ranger levels. The party requirements are base attack bonuses of +4 and +1 Survival, which everyone else in the party does have.

I go to the cave at #9a, and enter it. All I need to do is cut down the three Umber Hulks, and hope everyone makes their saving throws against the Hulks' confusion gazes, to complete the quest. One of the Hulks leaves behind an Umber Hulk Carapace, which I'll sell.

Everyone in the party gets 1,300xp, and the Foe Hunting feat, which means everyone in the party gets a +2 attack bonus against the same favored enemy that Umoja selected when he took Ranger levels, the Yuan-ti.

Greycloak Armor Upgrade

I don't show it in the video, but I grind for 2,000xp to go from 164,000 to 166,000xp.

I then return to Leilon, and purchase 5 Adamantine from the town. I then go to Highcliff and purchase 5 Mithral there.

Now I return to Crossroad Keep. I collect my trade income from Variel. I don't need to donate any trade bars for my fourth upgrade. I simply need to give her the 5 Adamantine and the 5 Mithral to upgrade the Greycloaks' armor.

Crossroad Keep Portal Upgrade

I ground it out some more till I get to about 168,000xp, which I don't show in the video. One reason I do this is to give Leilon time to restock its resources.

I return to Leilon and purchase 5 Adamantine again. I travel next to Conyberry and purchase 5 Darksteel.

I thereafter return to Crossroad Keep and collect my trade bar income from Variel. I now have to donate 5,000 trade bars for my next upgrade. After that, I give her the 5 Adamantine and 5 Darksteel to upgrade the portal.

That means I can now use the portal to travel to the trading post in any other town where I've previously constructed the trading post. The travel is one way though. I can only use the portal to travel from the Crossroad Keep portal to another town's trading post, but not vice versa.

19th Level

Now I ground it out until everyone in the party has at least 171,000xp. Party members reach their 19th level of experience.

Enchanting Arrows

Now it's time to really kick things up for Umoja. I cannot add enhancement bonuses to arrows, but I can add elemental damage bonuses to arrows. So I speak to Jacoby and wrack up on a lot of generic arrows.

I then enter the Merchant Headquarters, and receive plenty of trade income from Variel. I convert all but 5,000 trade bars into gold.

Now I head over to the crafting stations. I add +1d6 fire damage, +1d6 cold damage, and +1d6 acid damage to all the batches of arrows that I bought and hand them over to Umoja. The elemental damage that I added to the arrows will stack with the +1d6 electrical damage and +1d6 sonic damage that I added to Umoja's bow. He is now ready to kill it from a distance.

I am now at the point where I can do this regularly, since I now have a large trade network that will always bring in massive amounts of trade bars that I can always convert to the gold that I need for the process.

My next destination is the town of West Harbor.
