THE FOREST

Map

The Forest

Jail Break

One approach to getting out of the jail is to search around for a crack, and then use the Red Mushrooms to shrink yourself and squeeze through.

The simpler method is to "Use" the Dagger of Ramm at the Gate, and then several Guardians of Ramm will open the gate and attack you. These guys make for good experience fodder.

Simply continue to fight your way out until you emerge from the jail.

The Abandoned Ship

The party starts off near the entrance to the Temple of Ramm, at one of the #9s on the Forest map.

Familiar, as well as newer and more dangerous, foes are in this area. The ones that show up in this video are Knights of Death, Samurai, Ninja, Drow Rangers, and Yuan-ti. So far it isn't anything that I can't handle with my Bard softening them up with Fireball, and then my warriors cutting them down.

I make for #2 on the map. This spot will yield 3 or 4 Holy Stakes of Wood, which you'll need if you kept the Silver Cross and are determined to kill the Bane King and Rebecca. These are the only hand-held weapons that can damage them.

Jade Idol

Now the party heads over to #6 on the map. I press the button on the east wall to reveal an alcove. Inside the alcove is a chest with a Jade Idol, that my Monk can wear, as well as a Hayai Bo (which will be imported into Wiz 7 and then Wiz 8).

Recall that one of my goals is to have the party's inventory completely filled up, swag bags included, at the right moment at the end of the game. I continue that process. Any light items like powders and Red Mushrooms and Holy Waters that I have multiple instances of? I split them up and have other party members carry a single instance of any of those items. It allows me to fill up the inventory but without heavy items that could encumber party members, or at least without encumbering more than is already the case.

Rock of Truth

I travel to #5, fighting groups of Goblins and Gremlins along the way. Be aware that Gremlins can throw Fire Bombs, so they can sometimes prove dangerous in numbers.

I continue to distribute light items like Rutabegas and Apples among the party members to fill up the inventory. However, I have Rotghar keep three inventory slots open for the time being for those occasions when I do need to accept a new item that's needed to progress the game.

Once I do reach #5, I use the Miner's Pick on the Rock of Truth. This allows me to attain 4 Rocks of Reflection, which can help protect against the Hypnotizing Gaze power of both the Bane King and Rebecca.

Tinkerbell

The party heads towards #3, which requires travelling through the dark zone of the southeast part of the Forest. I encounter a new kind of monster, Haunts. These guys are basically tougher versions of Shadows. Be wary of Wraith Lords or Liches if you happen to run into any. If you do, kill them as quickly as you can, since they can cast spells like Hold Monsters, Death, and Lifesteal.

I continue to fight through Goblins and Gremlins along the way. Remember to use Silence if you run into Goblin Shamans, as they can use powerful spells from the Alchemist's spellbook.

Terra pushes her Thaumaturgy points to 95 on her 18th level-up, past the 90 for 6th-tier Mage spells and very close for the 98 needed to cast 7th-tier Mage spells. She takes Astral Gate so that she also has the option to get rid of a group of demons instantly.

The chest at #3 has the Tinkerbell. Terra drops one of her items to carry the Tinkerbell.

The Faerie Queen

Now the party makes its way to #4 on the map.

Here, I use the Tinkerbell to summon the Faerie Queen. Using 'rumors', 'delphi', and then asking, "What does the Delphi know?" is enough to get her to provide the answer to the riddles that will be posed by the Delphi. I return to the Dark Forest after that.

The Delphi

The party now fights its way to the cave on the southeast corner of the map. At one point I got ambushed by a massive horde of Goblins while I was sleeping, including a group of Goblin Shamans and a group of Goblin Priests. This is one of those fights that proves that spells of mass destruction can truly be a life saver. Errol was only one of two characters who awoke, but he instantly wipes out all of the Goblins with a Nuclear Blast.

The Delph is at #7. The proper answers to the Delphi's questions are: "We are fascination" and "We seek divination". This is important, since after the vision the Delphi will give the party a Staff of Aram that will be needed inside the Temple of Ramm. Rothgar accepts the item, Terra drops one of her spare items, and then accepts the Staff of Aram from Rothgar.

The party now leaves the dark forest through the east side tunnels. Sometimes the Wizard Eye spell can be useful for figuring out where you are and getting your bearings.

Guardians in the Forest

I'm close to a few level-ups, so I spin around for Guardians of Ramm and Ninja near the Temple entrance at #8.

Errol takes Fire Storm on his 20th level-up. It provides an option for sustained fire damage to a group of enemies over the course of several rounds.

Chun-Li takes Sane Mind on her 19th level-up, while Rothgar takes Lifesteal on his. Ryu takes Cure Poison on his 18th level-up.

Goat's Mask

First, I need to gain entrance to the Temple itself. Errol gives Rothgar the Goat's Mask, who equips it as a cursed item. Walking up to the gate at #8 while wearing the mask will convince the guards on the other end to open it. I fight a few Samurai and Ninja on the other side.

Rothgar then casts Remove Curse on himself, to equip his Armet instead of the Goat's Mask, and then gives the Goat's Mask back to Errol. The stairs at #10 lead to the Temple of Ramm.
