Here you'll have to defeat a Genlock. A dwarven corpse will have a random item or two.
If you're up to it, there are a few Deep Stalkers here, along with a Deep Stalker leader. If you can, try to use the 'drawing out' technique to lead one or two of them forward and away from the rest of the pack. If you manage to kill them, there are a few corpses here than can be looted for random pieces of armor and such.
Here is where you'll find Duncan, along with his contigent of Grey Wardens. He'll realize the plight you're in, and whatever sympathy he feels won't stop him from making the most of the situation by offering you a place with the Grey Wardens. This means you're headed for a coming battle with the Darkspawn at Ostagar.
