Ruined Thaig

Ruined Thaig

  1. ExpeditionHere is the way back to the Royal Palace.

This is where you start your expedition to recover the Aeducan shield, as you are being filled in by the King's most trusted advisor, Lord Pyral Harrowmount. Note that Genlocks will be a frequent encounter in this Thaig.

  2. Here you'll meet a scout named Frandlin Ivo, who will join your party.

  3. Genlocks
  4. Here you'll encounter several Genlocks, including a Genlock Alpha. If you can, use the drawing out technique in order to fight at most 2 or 3 at a time in a process of attrition.

  5. Here you'll meet another scout who will join your party.

  6. Here is the door to the Aeducan Thaig chamber.

  7. Mercenary Captain
  8. Here you'll run into a Mercenary Captain, who is supported by a couple of melee warriors and a couple of archers. Take out his support as quickly as you can, since he will take a fair bit of damage before going down himself. When you loot the Mercenary Captain's body, you'll notice that he was carrying a Aeducan Signet Ring, which apparently Prince Trian was supposed to be wearing. Hmmm ...

  9. Here is some rubble that blocks off leaving this way.

  10. Thaig Chamber
  11. Here is the chamber that holds the Aeducan shield. Look for 3 tiles that are unique from the rest. Now set your party on 'free standing mode' so that they're not always following each other around. Place your three companions on each of the unique tiles. Now have your character click on the sarcophagus to get the Aeducan Signet Ring.

When you leave the chamber, you'll get ambushed by several Genlocks and a Blight Wolf. Remember, having all three companions gang up on one creature at a time is your best chance of survival here.

FramedNow head back to #5. At this point, Gorim will remark that if Prince Trian really did want to ambush you, which Prince Bhelen will have previously suggested, here would have been the ideal spot to pull it off in.

Now head back to #2. You'll notice Prince Trian's dead body lying on the stone floor, just in time for King Endrin and his entourage, which includes Lord Harrowmount and Prince Bhelen, to arrive. You will get accused of murdering Prince Trian, and Prince Bhelen has arranged for both Frandlin and the other scout to bear false witness against you. This leaves King Endrin no choice but to condemn you to sentence for fraticide.

The game will proceed to a farewell meeting between you and Gorim while you sit in a prison cell. Gorim relates that he is going to be banished to the surface, while you have been sentenced to live out your remaining days in the Deep Roads, where death by the Darkspawn will be inevitable. Gorim however also relays a silver lining. Duncan and his Grey Wardens are also in the Deep Roads not far from Orzammar, so if you catch up to them, you'll have a chance.

With that, the game proceeds to the Deep Roads Outskirts.
