FIND SOME BLOOD OF A MIMIC

To get this quest, go to the Umar Hills and find Jermien's House at 6. Speak to Daar outside to learn that he is in love with Jermien's daughter, Colette, and that Jermien will have nothing of that.

Enter to see if you can do anything. You'll find Jermien working on a Stone Golem which he wants to keep an eye on Colette so she can't run off with Daar. He only needs some mimic's blood and would like you to find some for him. Accept!

  1. Go to the Umar Cave at 12 on the Umar Hills map and enter the cave.

  2. To the right of the entrance you will see a chest. Either try to open it, or cast True Seeing or a similar spell to dispell illusions. The chest is a Mimic. ;-)

  3. Kill the Mimic, then loot the "chest" for Mimic's Blood, a Diamond, 40 Bullets +1, and 40 Darts +1.

  4. Bring the mimic blood back to Jermien. The party receives 19,250 XP and the short sword Ilbratha +1.

  5. Jermien proceeds to use the blood to bring his Golem to life. However, he must have done something wrong, for the Golem turns on its creator! Help him kill the Golem!

  6. When the Golem dies, Daar comes running in to see what is happening! Jermien realizes, a little late, that maybe he isn't as smart and wise as he thought he was, neither when it comes to Golem building, nor in the matters of the heart. He lets Daar and Colette run off together and goes off himself to study less dangerous things than Golems. The party receives another 21,250 XP.

    NOTE (unverified): Our reader Sören writes in with a bit of cheese: "If you prepare a little, you can earn another 4000 XP and 4000 GP. When you have killed the golem, circle your party around Jermien so he can't leave. When you get the 21250 XP and he talks about leaving => kill him."

    With everybody out of the way, take some time to loot the house thoroughly. Besides minor treasure you should find Scrolls of Power Word Sleep, Contingency, and Protection From Normal Weapons as well as Potions of Fire Resistance, Clarity, and Genius.
