WAUKEEN'S PROMENADE

Circus Tent

Now I head over to Ribald's, and ask to see his special stock (only available in Chapter 6) for a fee of 50gp. The only item I'm interested in is the scroll of Time Stop. I want to accumulate as many Time Stop scrolls as I can in anticipation of Ascension.

Now I head over to the Circus Tent on the north side of the Promenade. I offer to look into matters.

I head inside and go north. The answer to the Genie's riddle is "The Prince is 30, and the Princess is 40." I get 19,500xp.

I continue on, and find an apparent Ogre with quite a feminine voice. She's actually a winged Elf trapped in an illusion. As per her request, I venture west and then north in search of her key. A couple of Commoners attack me, who are actually Orcs in disguise. One of them leaves behind a Sword, which is the key that the Elf, Aerie, needs. I get 18,500xp for bringing it to her. This is the first opportunity to have her join the party, but I decline.

I continue up the stairs to the north. There's no xp for killing the Werewolves, so Keldorn simply gets rid of them with True Seeing, leaving only the Shadows to be killed.

I continue north through the stairs again. Now will be the final encounter for the Tent, against Kalah and his Shadows. This is a low-level encounter, so I breeze through the Shadows easily before taking down Kalah.

The circus tent soon returns to its normal state. I then have a second opportunity to recruit Aerie, but I don't take it. Kalah leaves behind the Ring of Human Influence (sets Charisma to 18) and the Girdle of Piercing (+3 armor class vs. piercing weapons). The latter item will become part of the Girdle of Glory under the Item Upgrades Mod.

The video concludes with me telling Hanna that her child is waiting outside the tent. I get 5,000xp for this.

Jafir's Lamp

A little girl tells me about how Kalah acquired a genie's lamp from a creepy creature in the Crooked Crane Inn as soon as I step out of the tent. She also gives me Jafir's Lamp.

I then get 5,000xp for telling the little boy that his mother will be in the tent, and +1 to reputation for speaking to the Guard standing outside the tent.

I then go the second floor of the Crooked Crane, and speak with Jafir. Jafir soon reveals himself to be a Rakshasa, who demands a price for the secret word required for the genie's lamp. But I get it for free by attacking him.

Once I use the lamp, I have several options about what to do with the final wish. I chose to use it to set the Genie free so that the Rakshasa can't do any more evil with the Lamp. I get 5,000xp and +1 to reputation for this.

Mencar Pebblecrusher

There is one remaining point of interest in the Promenade. I make for the second floor of the Den of Seven Vales. I get into a fight with a group of evil adventurers led by a Dwarf named Mencar Pebblecrusher. The other members are a warrior with a two-handed sword named Smaeluv Orcslicer, a thief named Brennan Risling, a Mage named Amon of the Purple Brotherhood, and an Imp named Spooky.

This is a low-level fight that is easy for me to win, and even easier when Imoen unleashes her Spell Trigger of Chain Lightning, Chaos, and Greater Malison. This has the additional benefit of rendering Brenna Risling confused. Brennan will normally flee at the first sign of trouble. But once he's confused, I can kill him for the 4,000xp.

The booty includes a Full Platemail, a Warhammer +1, the Cursed Sword of Berserking +3 (will make wielder go berserk), a Shortsword +2, a Studded Leather +1, and a Wand of Lightning.

Finally, now that I've obtained the Girdle of Piercing from the Circus Tent, I head over to Cromwell's place. For 10,000gp Cromwell merges 3 Bloodstones, the Girdle of Piercing, the remaining Girdle of Bluntness, and the Golden Girdle, into the Girdle of Glory (+3 armor class). This will be Avastrian's girdle for the rest of the game, and he's the natural candidate to wear it as he had his strength raised to 19 during EasyTutu and thus has less of a need for a strength-enhancing belt.

Now it's time to head over to the North Forest.
