WANDS

Use Wands to cast magical spells at your enemies. Most Wands can only be used by magic-users but a few are simple enough that other classes can also use them.

Rod of Absorption

Properties:

  • One charge: Spell absorptions for four rounds.
  • Usable by: Clerics and Mages.

Location:

Rod of Lordly Might

Properties:

  • May turn into one of the following weapons when used:

    • Mace +2:
      • Target must save vs. spells (+5 Bonus) or be affected by fear for four rounds.
      • THAC0: +2.
      • Damage: +2.

    • Flaming Long Sword +1:
      • Target must save vs. spells (+5 Bonus) or be held for five rounds.
      • THAC0: +1.
      • Damage: +1.

    • Spear +3:
      • Target must save vs. spells (+6 Bonus) or take 2D4 points of magical damage.
      • THAC0: +3.
      • Damage: +3.

  • Usable by: Warriors.

Rod of Resurrection

Properties: Special Abilities (one charge): Resurrection.

Rod of Reversal

Properties:

  • Cast Ruby Ray of Reversal (1 charge per use).
  • Usable by: Fighters, Rangers, and Paladins.

Throne of Bhaal:

  • Sold by the Smugglers at 1 in the Smugglers Cave in Amkethran if you save them from the Monks.

Wand of Cloudkill

Properties:

  • 1-10 Damage per round
    • 1-4 HD: Instant death with no save.
    • 5-6 HD: Save vs. spell or instant death.
  • Range. 60 feet.
  • Area: 20 foot radius.
  • Duration: 1D4 turns.
  • Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Properties:

  • Casts Blindness, Deafness, and Silence on target (save negates all effects).

Wand of Fear

Properties:

  • Causes enemies to run in fear unless they save vs. spells.
  • Range: 100 feet.
  • Area: 20-foot radius.
  • Duration: 15 rounds.
  • Not usable by: Fighters and Thieves.

Wand of Fire

Properties:

  • Fireball:
    • Effect: Shoots out a Fireball.
    • Damage: 6D6 (save vs. wands for half).
    • Range: 90 feet.
    • Area: 30-foot radius.
  • Agannazar's Scorcher:
    • Effect: Agannazar's Scorcher.
    • Damage: 6D6 + 6 (save vs. wands for half).
    • Range: 90 feet.
    • Area: 1 creature.
  • Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Wand of Frost

Properties:

  • Effect: Column of Ice.
  • Damage: 8D6 (save vs. wands for half).
  • Range: 100.
  • Area: 1 creature.
  • Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Wand of Lightning

Properties:

  • Effect: Lightning Bolt.
  • Damage: 3D6.
  • Range: 100 feet.
  • Area: Path of Bolt.
  • Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Wand of Magic Missile

Properties:

  • 1 Magic Missile will strike target.
  • Damage: 1D4.
  • Range: 100 feet.
  • Area: 1 creature.

Location:

Wand of Monster Summoning

Properties:

  • Summons 12 HD of monsters.
  • Range: 20 feet.
  • Duration: 2 turns.
  • Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Wand of Paralyzation

Properties:

  • Stuns target unless save vs. wands with -4 penalty.
  • Range: 100 ft.
  • Area: 1 creature.
  • Duration: 10 rounds.
  • Not usable by: Fighters, Druids, Clerics, and Thieves.

Wand of Sleep

Properties:

  • Sleep unless the victim saves vs. Wands.
  • Range: 90 feet.
  • Area: 20 foot radius.
  • Duration: 2 rounds.

Watcher's Keep:

Wand of Spell Striking

Properties:

  • Casts Breach (uses one charge).
  • Casts Pierce Magic (uses one charge).

Wand of the Apprenti

Properties: Randomly casts one of three spells from a separate elemental source.

Location: One of the items your apprentices can create for you if you are a Mage and you accept the Planar Sphere as your stronghold. Please see the Mage Stronghold quests.

Wand of the Heavens

Properties:

  • Effect: Flamestrike.
  • Damage: 8D6 (save vs. wands for half).
  • Range 120 feet.
  • Area: 1 creature.
  • Not usable by: Fighters, Mages, Bards, and Thieves.

Location:

Wand of Wonder

Properties: Random effects each time the wand is used.
